Welcome to The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio's web site!

Dear Friends of The Epilepsy Center,

2008 closes our 30th year here at The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio, and what a year it was! In the past year we have seen a lot of change not only in the agency itself, but in the community around us. The services that we provide have never been more important to northwest Ohio as it is right now!

The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio first opened its doors on June 24, 1977. It started with a small group of parents concerned with their children having epilepsy and wanting to shape for them a secure future.

The Epilepsy Center of NW Ohio is a non profit organization offering services and information about epilepsy to any one who is affected by epilepsy in the 13 counties in Northwest Ohio. These counties include: Eric, Sandusky, Ottawa, Wood, Lucas, Henry, Fulton, Williams, Defiance, and Paulding.

The Epilepsy Center continues to offer its services through information and referral, advocacy and case management, emergency medication assistance, residential, vocational, support groups and many others. The Epilepsy Center also currently runs two client homes; the Barbara Jean McDonagh home and the Jean Scott Furney home. We offer a stable, homelike environment with 24 hour staffing and nursing services available. We also have had great success with our Adult Day Services Program; a new addition to our Vocational Program which helps to foster the independence of our clients.

On April 19th, we officially ended our Three Decades of Caring with a Gala at Stone Oak Country Club. The evening featured emcee Tony Geftos, keynote speaker “Mighty” Mike Simmel, and live music from East River Drive Band. Thank you to all of the sponsors, staff, volunteers, clients, and family members that offered their support on this night of celebration!

The Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio’s mission is to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy. Our vision states that people with epilepsy will attain the highest quality of life and gain full acceptance and understanding from the community. Our role in Northwest Ohio is so vitally important and we want to thank you, for all that you do in contributing to the success of The Center and helping to improve the lives of others.
